Practical Tips to Prevent Menstrual Cramps

Many women experience menstrual cramps or painful periods. Even others who typically do not have painful menstruation may undergo painful menstruation on certain months. Below are practical tips to lessen the occurrence of menstrual cramps.

First of all, avoid lifting heavy objects days before and during your period. If you do, expect your menstruation to be more painful than usual. If you have to travel days before menstruation and cannot avoid lifting your baggage, be sure to travel light. When you go to the department store to buy your groceries and need to lift them, limit your hand-carried bags to 4 kilos or less.

Walking a day or two before your period would also help you experience less discomfort when your period comes. This is due to improved blood circulation and well-conditioned muscles. But do not take it to the extreme as to strain your muscles. About 20 minutes walk would be fine especially a day or two before your period.

During menstrual days, drink plenty of water. It helps improve blood flow. And if there’s a food that helps you best during this period, it is ripe bananas. Eat them before, after and in between meals and your blood flow will be better.
